Codes
Secret Bonus Level Test:
When Cranky Kong is cranking away at his record player, hit Down, Y, Down, Down, Y.
Music Test:
At the SELECT A GAME screen, highlight ERASE GAME and hit Down, A, R, B, Y, Down, A, Y.
Now hit SELECT to change music.
Extra Lives:
At the SELECT A GAME screen, highlight ERASE GAME and hit B, A, R, R, A, L.
A tone should sound.
You get 50 lives.
Bad Buddy:
At the SELECT A GAME screen, highlight ERASE GAME and hit B, A, Down, B, Up, Down, Down, Y.
Now in a 2 player team mode, anyone can change at any time.
Warps
There are warps in DKC that are so secret, most magazines you will read will not put them in.  They skip you to the beginning of a level to the end very quickly.
- 1. Stop and Go.  Walk left from the beginning of the level, off the screen.
- 2. Mine Cart Carnage.  There are a DK barrel and a blast barrel at the beginning of the level, jump OVER the blast barrel, into the hole, and hold LEFT so that so fall right up next to the wall.
- 3. Tree Top Town.  (you need to be Diddy) In this level there is a beaver, then a bird.  The bird appears just as the second tree of the level does. DO NOT let the bird fly left, but jump off him and towards the center of the tree, off the top of the screen.  There is a tire, jump off IT straight up into a barrel.
- 4. SlipSlide Ride.  In the same little indent as the first secret level is the warp.  DO NOT go in the secret level, but DO go up the rope.  Instead, look up at the upper left corner of the screen.  A BARREL PAINTED BLUE!  You need Donkey Kong to jump in.
- 5. Trick Track Trek.  The scaffolding ends and there is a moving platform.  DO NOT jump on the platform, but rolling-jump off the scaffolding to the right, and try to get off the top of the screen.  There is a warp barrel there.
- 6. Take Donkey Kong and run as fast as you can through Vulture Culture, following these instructions:
-     a) DO NOT LET GO OF THE RUN BUTTON, YOU HAVE TO DO THIS AS FAST AS POSSIBLE!
 
-     b) grab the barrel and run through the 1st bird with it.
-     c) blast through the level until you come to the bird perched, throwing
        coconuts.  Jump off him and continue right.  There is a hole with 2 blast
        barrels, one directly down and left from the other, both within an inch of
        the ledge you are on. If there is only one barrel, then you did not go
        through the level fast enough, or you don't have the right version of DKC.
Other Secrets and Fun Bugs
6-life balloon!
There is a 6-life balloon in the first level.  Yes, a 6-life balloon:
- Get the rhino.
- Go all the way right to the cave at the end of the level.  Get on top of it. (You have to do this whole trick FAST! because the balloon will get away).
- Go all the way up and right as you can.
- Now jump with the rhino, and jump off him to get extra height.
- You should be on a tire way off the screen.  (You can hear the tire bouncing.)
- Jump up off it to get blasted by a barrel into the blue, 6-life balloon.
The AMAZING, Appearing Rambi!
- In any level, if you HAVE an animal, and go into a bonus round with THAT SAME animal, you can get Rambi. (example, Bouncy Bonanza has a re-enterable level with the frog, Misty Mine, re-enter the bonus level, Orang-utan Gang, get the bird and get into the last bonus level WHILE YOU HAVE HIM, etc.)
- When you go into the bonus level, get the new animal, but dismount him before you leave the bonus level.
- When you exit, you have Rambi!
Extra Extra Life
- In Millstone Mayhem, there is a bonus level in which you jump on birds, and each one you jump on gives you an extra life after number 8.  BUT, you can get ANOTHER life by doing this:
- Use either monkey, preferably Diddy, and ROLL through the first bird, and hold ROLL and RIGHT.
- You will almost hover by rolling through successive birds.
- After bird 8, you start getting the lives, as normal, but when you get all the way to the right, THERE IS A 1-UP BALLOON hovering over Expresso!!!! (remember to jump after the last bird so you don't roll down the hole.
A Bad Glitch
- In OIL DRUM ALLEY, go to the part where the Blast Barrel blasts you high, and you bounce on the tire, and there are 3 blue kremlings. (just before the "O".)
- Now, kill the 3 kremlings, and go back to the ledge above the blast barrel.
- Fall down and hold right, and fall to the right of the barrel. (Only Diddy is small enough to do this...).
- Now change monkeys.
- YOU'RE STUCK!
- This is not much of a help, but you CAN exit if you've beaten it before by the START-SELECT thing.
Ultra Secret Long Distance Warp
- Between the first and second levels, the path bends.  (this warp is MUCH easier if you have a turbo control, and even then its TOUGH!)
- If you hit Y exactly as the Donkey Kong/Diddy hit the bend, you are warped halfway through Orang-Utan Gang!  You have to do it EXACTLY as they start walking in the new direction.
- This also works between all the levels with path bends in the KONGO JUNGLE, except the FIRST bend between Cranky and Reptile Rumble takes you to Ropey Rampage.
- All the rest go to Orang-Utan gang halfway through!
Make Donkey Kong and Diddy FLY!
- Go to Mine Cart Madness, and get to the end, where the last bonus level is.
- Bounce off any tires (except the one under the bonus level barrel) and hit B and Y at the same time, rapidly, to fly.
- As long as you stay under the dome of track, or over it, you can fly, you can fly, you can FLYYYYYY!

There are 2 versions out of DKC.  If the 1st code doesn't work, try the other.
These have been tested and should work on all versions of the game.
DD68-C34D / DD68-C33D   Start with 0 lives
EE68-C34D / EE68-C33D   Start with 255 lives
DDC1-3D6D + DDC1-34AD / DDC9-340D + DDC1-3D6D  0 bananas = extra life.
DFC1-3D6D + DFC1-34AD / DFC9-340D + DFC1-3D6D  1 banana = extra life.
EEC1-3D6D + EEC1-34AD / DFC9-340D + DFC1-3D6D  255 bananas = extra life.
EE81-1273 / EE86-13E3   ULTR’-jump for Donkey Kong  - FLY OVER MOST OF LEVEL!
EE81-1E73 / EE8B-1AE3   ULTR’-jump for Diddy Kong
EE8F-C273 / EE87-C3E3   ULTR’-jump for all animals
(The ULTR’ above has a kind of AE at the end in case the ’ doesn't display)
The following Game Genie codes ONLY work on the 1st version of the game.
- EE86-13E3 (DK ULTR’-jump in 2nd version) Makes ground as if it were covered with tires, DK, Diddy, and animals can all jump as if on tires.  Also, try it with a rolling jump.
- EE86-1AE3 Like the previous code,but only Donkey Kong can jump as if on tires.
- EE86-12E3 DK earthquake jump, more for effect than anything, Donkey Kong can jump up when he is standing still, and will roll up into a cannonball and hit the ground with massive force, and cause a minor earthquake.  Unfortunately, this code is not useful because his running jump is very short and Diddy can barely jump at all.
- DDB0-34A4 (Exit any level by hitting START then SELECT in 2nd version) With this code in the 1st version, you can't exit ANY levels by hitting START then SELECT.  Now, what is the purpose in that?  To make it more difficult!
